Beginning February 1, 2025, the Environmental Sanitation Tax in Los Cabos will increase to MXN$79.19 (approximately USD$3.86) per occupied room per night. But there is no need to panic. What is a tourism tax?

Some of the most relevant items include the environmental infrastructure improvement and the sustainability practices to preserve Los Cabos. This tax tourism is typically paid upon arrival at the airport or through your hotel. Here's how it generally works:

• At the Airport: If you're arriving at Los Cabos International Airport, you’ll usually be asked to pay the tax at the airport before you exit. It’s often included in your flight ticket or collected at the airport terminal, either by the airport authority or through a third-party service.

• Hotel: In some cases, the tax may be included in your hotel bill. If not, your hotel may inform you about where or how to pay it during check-in or check-out.
