Let The Good Tunes Roll

By Renee Huang
April 8, 2009

Jazz, blues and rock music fans should pencil in the month of March onto their calendars as a time to get their groove on in Puerto Vallarta's Old Town. The Cuates y Cuetes restaurant and bar, found right on Los Muertos Beach next to the pier in the quaint Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta, is a great place to relax, have good food and drink, hear good music and watch the beautiful sunsets.

During the month of March, it is also the home base for the annual Spring Equinox Music Festival, now in its 15th year, organized by Cuates y Cuetes managers Tete Zemeno and Martin Montenegro. Each year the festival takes place on Los Muertos Pier, welcoming the new season of spring with live jazz, blues and rock performed by national and international artists from across Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.

Zemeno and Montenegro himself a tenor saxophone player hold this annual festival to expose a wide audience, and especially their fellow Mexicans, to the rich musical culture of the Americas. The festival is also a treat for the musicians themselves because they get a rare opportunity to share their music with each other.
